Increase Day Spa Profits
Becoming successful in your day spa and increasing your day spa profits all comes down to your math. A stellar day spa can deliver hundreds of dollars in revenue per hour while a poor performer will deliver under $50 per hour.
Of course some of your number will depend whether your day spa is located in a fancy high-end hotel or stand-alone in a local neighborhood. Day spas in hotels can deliver $100 in spa revenue per occupied room. That’s impressive! Perhaps the way to increase your day spa profits is to become associated with a major hotel chain?
The International Spa Associations reported that there has been a current sustainable growth rate of more than 6% a year for the spa industry. With a population that’s aging and taking better care of themselves, as well a significant increase in disposable income for those 40 plus it’s no wonder that spas across the country are reporting increases in their day spa profits.
Spas are popping up across the country from coast to coast and some are doing very well while others are hardly staying afloat? Why you ask? Well there can be a variety of factors responsible for failure. Inexperience, a market that was targeted properly, demographics, and a host of other reasons.
Anyone who decides the time has come to open a spa because they are hoping to catch a share of the increasing day spa profits needs to be prepared. They need to have done their research, know who their market is, target the right demographics, offer the types of products that are in demand, and know who your demographics are. You need to be prepared and to be prepared you need to have done your homework.
Increasing your day spa profits can be as simple as branding or running your own private label. Adding new treatments that are either currently high in demand or unique enough to draw a following can do a great deal for increasing profits.
Cutting costs is another way of increasing day spa profits. Those costs might include renegotiating your lease, or re-evaluating hours of operation. It might also include streamlining your staff. You might also want to consider an increase in your pricing, or at least reworking treatments that are not showing the profit margin that was anticipated. It pays to not print pricing brochures in large numbers making it easier to adjust as necessary, especially with a newer business.
