Salon and Spa Do They Work Good Together

Salon and Spa – Do They Work Good Together?

When it comes to the salon and spa industry exciting things are happening as women demand more pampering and even men jump on the bandwagon. But do they work good together? They certainly can.

The key to a quality salon and spa is professionals that excel in their treatments and their customer service. That’s a main factor upon which they share. However, the types of skilled professionals are different. Although the two can be merged nicely it requires a little more effort and a different mind set.

Many hair salons have a nail technician tucked away in a back corner who can do acrylics or gels on the fly but these types of salons generally have not ambiance and they certainly don’t relax you.

On the other hand a spa is designed to pamper and relax you. It brings clients in for massages, body wraps, skin care, makeup, as well as a manicure and pedicure. It may or may not include a hair stylist.

There are a few ways to have a salon and spa work together for the benefit of both parties. You can outsource space for a hair stylist. It’s a very common practice for a spa to provide space for rent to a hair stylist because it makes the spa able to present the whole package. The spa might also consider hiring a hair stylist full time or even just a few days a week. Either way, their client can be pampered from head to foot.

For a salon to add spa services isn’t quite as common. They may have a nail technician on hand or a tanning bed but generally not more than that. Service in a salon are much more limited although there may be several stylists in one salon.

The key is about the business plan and how you plan to pull the two concepts together. Shared product lines, shared common areas, and one receptionist for all services always works out nicely.

The salon and spa industry are both a booming industry together responsible for billions of dollars in revenue each year and continuously growing. As more and more entrepreneurs become creative the concept of a salon and spa merging increases. There are plenty of perks to offering a client both and having the ability to cross-market.

The ability of the creative entrepreneur to bring these two industries together leaves an amazing business opportunity at their fingertips.
