Your Spa Business Plan

Your Spa Business Plan

Every successful spa business has a good spa business plan behind it. You probably have all kinds of ideas running through your mind – some good – some bad. What you need to do is get those ideas to paper and then put together a good spa business plan.

You spa business plan is designed to be the outline for your new business. It’s what you are going to build your business from. It really is a magic. Well that is if it’s done correctly it’s a powerful tool.

Before you begin you need to know and understand your local market, what the competition does, how successful they are, where they are located, what type of demographics are in the area you are thinking about opening your day spa, and do they fit with the type of demographics that come to day spa.

Since the object of your spa is to bring paying clients in the door, your spa business plan needs to address just how you plan to do that. Your spa needs to be first class. It needs to be classy and welcoming and your clients should leave feeling refreshed and relaxed. That means you don’t want your spa located in an area that’s exceptionally noisy such as an industrial area.

Your spa business plan needs to outline how many treatment rooms you are going to have and you will be utilize those rooms. When clients arrive for the first time the first thing they are going to notice is the atmosphere in your lounge area an in your treatment rooms. If it’s not up to their expectations they won’t be back.

Your spa business plan need to include a product line whether it’s a well-known name already on the market or whether you decide to have your own label. There are advantages and disadvantages to both methods – there simply isn’t enough room in one article to expand here.

You need to consider what your staffing will look like. How will you put your management team together? How many professional staff will you hire? That can depend on the treatments being offered. What’s your payroll budget?

You will need to identify trends that are emerging and just how the spa business is growing and evolving. You will want to do your research and see what the average earnings currently are and what the expectations are for the future.

Your spa business plan is rather like the business bible, and there are many chapters to it. Make sure yours is complete.
